Small Independent Producers & Unique Wines
SIP is a wine company that sources and imports high quality wines that are excellent value for money and naturally made. The wines are available to customers directly through this web site or to trade customers. SIP also provide wines for parties, weddings, special events, corporate gifts and receptions, art galleries, and any event where the best natural wines are called for.
Although all different the wines have one thing in common, they are all brought directly from very small producers who grow their grapes either organically or biodynamically and don't use things like Industrial yeasts, or fining agents, or added sugar. Only very low amounts of Sulphites are added just before bottling, the exact amounts for each wine have been included in the details for each wine. The result of making wine this way is that the wine has much more flavour and expression of the grape, the place that it is grown (terroir) and the techniques used by the winemaker. I don't buy from agents in the UK or anywhere else, and never will.
Making wines in this way is not an easy option, it's harder work and is a more expensive process. The winemakers that we buy from do it this way because they care about wine so much, and so do we. For example the Amoreau family from Chateaux Le Puy near St Emillion have an amazing history of winemaking that reaches back to 1610. The vines and the winemaking tradition have been upheld by generations of the same family and to this day they are making wines the natural way, even producing wines with no added sulphites at all, to make such high quality wines in this way is extremely rare and very special.
It is this respect for the tradition and expertise of making wine in this natural way together with an enormous amount of passion for winemaking that make these winemakers unique. The sacrifices they make and the tough decisions they face in growing the grapes and making the wine make these winemakers unique.
We are extremely proud to be introducing these wines to wine drinkers in England that are looking for wines that are high quality, represent great value for money and that are made without the addition of chemicals and additives. Most of the wines are only available at SIP and because of the low yields and bottles produced by each winemaker once they are gone we wait until the next year to order.
Although mainly a web based business our customers often like to talk to us directly about the wines and we like this way of doing business too.
